1st Pacific Heritage Youth Summit

Youth delegations from Guam, the Northern Marianas, Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, Hawaii and American Samoa gathered and convened at the first ever Pacific Heritage Youth Summit held in Guam, July 13 to July 16, 2014, organized by the Guam Preservation Trust.  The Summit focused on discussions on youth, culture, and the environment, specifically preservation, conservation and/or heritage tourism.

“This gathering of Pacific Island youth at the inaugural Pacific Heritage Youth Summit will provide the learning experience as we teach, prepare, and inspire our youth to promote and protect our history and culture for our island community,” said Joe Quinata, Chief Program Officer of the Guam Preservation Trust. “It is our hope that the youth delegations will learn and share their heritage with one another on best practices as stewards of our environment and culture and promote heritage tourism both here in Guam and in their home islands."
